sexy SATURDAY NIGHT hair

HERE'S YOUR RECIPE FOR...
seriously simple, perfectly rumpled, amorously-inspired wavy locks!
Step 1: Start with a volumising mousse and blow-dry. Or, if your hair is already dry, dust on some volumising powder or dry shampoo to give roots a little boost.
Step 2: Wrap small sections of hair around a curling iron, but make sure to curl only the middle of the sections—keep the curling iron away from the roots or the ends.
{This is where the easy, laid-back factor comes in: curls that span root-to-tip end up looking less natural and more over-styled}.
Step 3: Brush out curls and finish with hairspray.
Voila - gorgeous!

shiny hair SECRETS

NOW IS THE TIME TO MAKE YOUR HAIR SHINE...
Pollution, harsh chemicals, indoor heating and heat styling can all make your hair look dull, so try these tips to have your hair looking gorgeous again...
• Start in the shower. Look for shine-enhancing shampoo and conditioner with ingredients like olive oil, jojoba, and rice proteins. Alternate these with your regular formulas to prevent buildup. Be wary of clarifying shampoos; they can deprive hair of much-needed moisture and even strip the dye off colour-treated hair. After you shampoo, apply a conditioner evenly through the ends and rinse thoroughly. If your hair is colour-treated, use a hair mask weekly to replenish moisture.
• Prep work. After towel-drying, apply either a glossing cream or shine serum. Glossing creams are lighter and have less silicone, so they're more appropriate for women with fine to medium hair. Use a shine serum if you have frizzy or coarse hair or unruly curls. (Avoid saltwater sprays; they tend to leave a matte finish.) Massage a dollop of the product evenly through your hair.
• Dry the right way. Place a round, natural-bristle brush under a three-inch section of hair. Start at the roots, and hold the dryer so the nozzle aims downward—never up against the shaft. Slide the brush down without twisting it, to seal the cuticle.
• Add a spritz. While your hair is still warm from the dryer, flip it upside down and mist the ends with a shine spray. This ensures you won't get too much product near the roots. If you need a touch-up during the day, spritz some shine spray on your hands and run them lightly through your hair. Again, you don't want to overdo it.

the HAIR HYDRATORS

KEVIN MURPHY MAKES ONE OF THE BEST HYDRATING SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONERS - perfect for this time of the year...
The bricklike packaging not only looks great in your bathroom, but the product works. First, the scent: Both are infused with Kakadu Plum, a vitamin-C-packed fruit from northern Australia that smells sweet and fresh without being overly fruity or floral (none of that saccharine coconut-orchid-pomegranate-splash business). The hydrating conditioning rinse has a rich, creamy consistency that feels like it actually coats your hair, and ingredients like primrose oil, micro algae, shea butter, and sunflower oil leave heat-damaged locks shiny and tangle-free.
+
The whole line is free of sulphates and parabens, opting for plant extracts and essential oils instead.

copy her HAIR: ALEXA CHUNG

ALEXA'S HAIR IS A VARIATION ON A CLASSIC BOB...
- it's not too done and not too messy. Any girl can wear it - it's very accessible.
It's a bit Nineties with the grown-out fringe and centre-parting. There's a Seventies feeling too but it's not really Seventies. It's kind of like when you are a little girl and you get your first haircut.
Want to copy-cat Alexa's hair?
Ask your hairdresser to do a classic bob but make sure they chop into it loads. Then use curling irons to tong random bits. It's just a simple cut that's very feminine
and low-maintenance.

blonde AMBITION

THE GORGEOUS ANJA KONSTANTINOVA... WE LOVE HER LOOK!
If you're thinking about going this blonde,
here are a few things to consider...
Don't rush it. First and foremost, is not to move up the colour spectrum too quickly. If you go too light, too fast, your hair can get dry and damaged, which isn't pretty regardless of your hair colour. You may need several visits to the salon to get the shade you're looking for. So be patient, heed your colourist's advice, and move at the pace they recommend.

Bring a picture. This makes it much easier for your stylist to understand what you want and to tailor the colour to your particular hair and skin tone.

Get dirty. Make sure you haven't washed your hair the day you go to the salon. Having a little buildup of oil will create a natural barrier on your scalp, and will make it more comfortable for you when getting colour, especially if you are lightening up your base colour drastically.

Don't try this at home. Don't try going blonde by yourself, especially if you're starting with a dark base - instead give Mana a call: 02 8919 0146 and make an appointment.
