new to the salon: MR. SMITH shampoo & conditioner

MR. SMITH IS DEDICATED TO STYLE, SUBSTANCE AND SIMPLICITY: STYLE ABOVE ALL ELSE, SUBSTANCE OF INGREDIENTS - SIMPLICITY BY DESIGN.

Their new range of Australian made hair care products are meticulously crafted from a selection of Australian botanicals and essential oils. Innovative use of lime, cacao seed and wheat protein, combined with mandarin, jasmine oil and rose geranium, has led to a range of products that are engineered for performance utilising only premium ingredients.

Each product has been scientifically designed and tested to deliver on this performance. Hydrating, lightweight and organically nourishing, the Mr. Smith collection provides maximum results, while retaining the hair’s natural fluidity and shine.

Mr. Smith believes that what we leave out is just important as what we leave in. That’s why they’re committed to creating products that don't contain sulphates or parabens; why they’ve never tested on animals and
why all their products have been PETA-Certified Vegan.

The Shampoo: Mr. Smith Balancing Shampoo is formulated to gently cleanse the hair and scalp. Jasmine and mandarin oils soften keratin and relax stressed hair. The scalp is soothed and the hair fibre cleansed of stubborn styling product residue from waxes and sprays. The result is hair that is left feeling silky and clean.

The Conditioner: Mr. Smith Balancing Conditioner invigorates and refreshes hair, with nourishment and hydration courtesy of cacao seed butter, complemented by wheat protein, which plumps and strengthens the hair fibre. Hair is moisturised but not weighed down and importantly retains its natural movement, bounce and shine.

Mr. Smith is now available in the salon ! x

celebrity hair inspiration - THE WAVY BOB

15 OF OUR FAVOURITE CELEBRITY WAVY ''WOBS' & 'LOBS'...
It's all about the hair texture and length of the moment: medium and wavy! The look is the ever-popular lob, which sits just above or below the collarbones, as well as the "wob," which is a true bob-length at ear level. These 15 looks can be achieved on either naturally wavy hair or by tonging around with an iron—just be sure to leave the ends out instead of curled under.

how to EXTEND YOUR BLOW-DRY

WHEN YOU'VE JUST GOT THE PERFECT BLOWDRY {FROM MANA}
the last thing you want to do is wash it away the very next day...
Well, you don't have to!

Here are our top tips for extending the life of your preciously sleek locks:

* Choose products wisely. Use creamy pomades and shine serums sparingly. If you must use a silicone serum to tame frizz, don't apply it near the roots. But it's fine to use mousse or voluminizing spray near the scalp—these contain alcohol, which can actually help absorb excess oil. Just use half the amount you normally would to avoid buildup, which can make hair look dirty.

* Protect your hair. As long as you keep the blowdry, pull your hair back off your face tightly when washing your face and applying creams to ensure that skin-care products don't touch the hairline.

* Perk it up. At the first sign of grease, spray your part and hairline with an aerosol dry shampoo. Brush the product through your hair vigorously, because it can leave a white residue. To boost limp hair, spritz a voluminizing spray at the roots, then blast with a blow-dryer for lift. Tame strays with a straightening iron.

* Skip the gym. In other words, if you don't want to restyle your hair for a few days, avoid serious sweating.

update your HAIR COLOUR for winter

SUPER-LIGHT HIGHLIGHTS THAT LOOK PERFECT IN SUMMER
can highlight the wrong things in the winter—like an ashy, palid complexion. The same thing if your hair is too-dark...

Never fear, here's how winterize your hair colour:

If you're blonde, go more golden and less beige, and ask your colourist to weave both highlights and lowlights throughout your hair for a warmer look.

Light brunettes should consider deepening their hair to a warm chestnut colour; dark brunettes, a deep chocolate hue. For both, be sure to ask your colourist for a multidimensional look. If you want highlights, ask for face-framing balayage ones—these hand-painted pieces tend to look more natural on dark hair than do foil streaks.

Amp up red hair with a copper or deep auburn tone—anything but bluish or burgundy, which looks fake. Because red fades quickly, top the colour with a clear glaze to seal it.

Don't go more than two shades lighter or darker—dramatic shades can look severe against pale winter skin.

how to dry your hair, fast!

high speed hair
WHEN IT COMES TO HAIR IN A HURRY, DON'T FIGHT NATURE, WORK WITH IT
Here are some high-speed hair taming-tricks that will save you time...

 * For a quick blow-dry, first squeeze hair dry with a towel, then flip your head upside down. Hold your hairdryer, which has at least 1600 watts of power, about 10cm away from your hair and use your hands to move your hair around.

 * Change your part to add height and volume. At the end of the day, flipping hair to the other side to create a new part instantly makes it look fuller and thicker. * Never underestimate the power of the ponytail. When all else fails – a sleek or messed-up version of the ponytail is always a good look.

 * Wash your hair with colour-enhancing shampoos to brighten fading hair inbetween colour appointments - they give your locks an instant new lease of colour and shine.
